The 2018 American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE ) annual meeting was held in Detroit, United States from July 29th to August 1st, 2018. Professors of BEFS were invited to make conference report entitled "International Collaboration for Improving Food Safety of  Poultry Supply Chain in China" at the meeting. Shen Yafang, postgraduate student of BEFS, won the second place in the AOC Student Paper Competition.

ASABE is the most authoritative academic organization in the field of agricultural engineering. The annual conference covers almost all frontier topics of agricultural engineering, such as agricultural robots, food safety engineering, machine vision and biosensors,and  attracted experts, scholars and students from the agricultural engineering fields around the world to participate. Associate professor Fu Yingchun, and the project student participant Shen Yafang, who are mainly engaged in the rapid detection of veterinary drug residues in the Wal-Mart project, presented the oral report entitled “A novel electrochemical biosensor based on magnetic-separation/concentration-signal-amplification in-one method for chloramphenicol detection” and “A fluorescent nanobiosensor for rapid and facile detection of enrofloxacin in chicken products”.

Wal-Mart-funded project--Quality Meat and Poultry Program is jointly developed by Arkansas University, South China Agricultural University, China Agricultural University, Zhejiang University, Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and New Hope Liuhe, Shengnong, Jiangfeng, and other poultry companies. It uses biosensing technology and dynamic risk analysis to study online monitoring and risk assessment models for pathogens and antibiotic residues in the poultry supply chain, providing technical support for the continued development of the poultry industry, allowing the public to eat poultry while Helping my country's poultry enterprises to enter the international market.
